How to score points
One pick per match: the final score. The more precise you are, the more you score.
Exact score
You get the score spot on: predicted 2–1, actual 2–1.
Right result + margin
Right winner and goal margin, but not the exact score.
Right result
You get the right winner (or the draw).
Close
Only one of the two scores is right.
Miss
Wrong result: no points.
In case of a tie
Ties are broken by number of correct picks, then exact scores, then — a house wink — by points earned on the matches of a team of your choice.
Variant: odds-weighted scoring
Each organiser can switch their competition to a second system, where a correct pick is worth more the less the community saw it coming.
- Right result: 10 × (1 − the share of the community that saw it), i.e. 0.5 to 9.5 points.
- Margin bonus: 4 points minus the goal error (a draw's margin is halved, same as in the classic scale).
- Fewer than three picks on a match: it falls back to the classic scale, so a fake upset never pays.
Example: the same exact score is worth 2 points on an obvious favourite, and up to 14 on an upset nobody saw coming.
